This most likely has to do with the installer not being able to open the ports in the Firewall of and Windows 2008 Server. If you experience this problem using a Windows 2008 Server, open the ports in the firewall manually (http://refinenetworks.wordpress.com/2008/08/25/protocols-and-ports-used-by-dpm/) or disable the firewall just to see if this is the problem... @Daryl,
